A Taste of New York City in your Beer

Brooklyn artist Andrew Casner is taking urban gardening to another level. Instead of the usual flowers or vegetables, he’s planting hops, an ingredient in beer that adds flavor.

According to The New York Times, he planted it for two reasons, the artistic possibilities that come with plants that grow about 30 feet high, and to create a local flavored beer.

He worked with the bar “61 Local” and a man who brews beer in his basement to ferment this Brooklyn beer.

Since they aren’t allowed to sell it because of New York laws, if you want to taste the flavor of Brooklyn, you’ll have to head out to the bar in December for a free sample.
