A Sugary Pick-Me-Up in Washington Square

Last summer, Gina Ojile opened the Cake & Shake cart at Washington Square Park. A few months ago, she added one at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Today, she offers environmentally friendly treats for hungry passers-by. Each delicious and inventively-flavored cupcake (like the Flip-Flop, which is made of pineapple upside down cake, rum mousse, and mango frosting) is made with 100% organic ingredients and the wrappers are completely biodegradable. In terms of your eco-footprint, this ‘green’ food may be guilt-free, but the calories are decidedly not.
