Paterson’s Parting Gift: Greenhouse Gas Slash

Now that Andrew Cuomo is set to take over the role of Governor of New York from David Paterson, it seems Paterson wanted leave the governor-elect a little something to remember him by: an intense guideline for cutting greenhouse gas emissions in the state by 80 percent by 2050.

According to the New York Times, the plan follows Cuomo’s own for promoting clean energy, so he will most likely follow it by shifting private transportation toward electric vehicles, among other things.

While writing this, I’m looking out my window at a giant plume of not-so-pleasant looking smoke rising from a pipe at the top of a federal building, so we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes from this legislation.
