Raptor Fest in brief

Central Park’s annual Raptor Fest was also Saturday, on the Great Hill. Several birds were tethered and waiting for their part in the show, including a Golden Eagle and a Gyrfalcon.

Eagles are among the strongest birds of prey, and the golden eagle’s wingspan can reach almost eight feet.

The gyrfalcon is an Arctic bird of prey, and this one kept trying to fly away.

The Gothamist has some great photos of the Raptor Fest as well.
